Is Wikipedia Reliable?

For all of us who browse the internet for answers, whether we study, or do it for our own pleasure the one place that gives us most of the answers is precisely Wikipedia. So in order to satisfy our need for knowledge we take answers that are given to us as granted, simply because we don’t have more time to research or we are bored to.
The fact is that, behavior of ours can lead us more and more into the path of un-knowledge and on the other hand, give the publishers of the Wikipedia, bigger freedom to write whatever they please like answers to some questions or topics, knowing that readers :
  1. Wouldn’t bother to check the reliability of information that they provide and
  2. Even if they bothered to check and saw that it’s incorrect and tried to correct it their administrators instantly delete the posts without further explanation why, in a way that someone could assume it’s on purpose.
So the question comes upon us, who still care about truth, why is all of that done and, if it is done, with what purpose?
This blog is brought to you, who still care about truth, because of the truth itself and not because we are told that it is truth. In here we will give some statements and valid proofs for the given statements, in order to reveal the things that are hidden from our eyes. I hope, like a creator of this blog to have my freedom to express whatever should be expressed. I hope also that many of you who read this become wealthier at least for this one new experience that I will give you.
Let’s all hope that, this work will bring us again to the spring of the knowledge.

What others say

Dummies.com  - They speak about the same topic that we discus here, which means that we are not alone who thinks about these matters. If you like you can post other sites on comments that have an opinion about the matter.
Eschoolnews.com - Speaks about a more (?) reliable wikipedia yet to come. That means the current one isn't?
Yahoo! Answers.com - Here we can see that the opinions about this matter are splitted just like we mentioned on the beginning of this blog. There are two groups.
  • First one is colleague and study people. They believe what they read in Wikipedia because it suits them to finish up their homework faster. But does it give quality?
  • Second group is free researchers. They see that it is not reliable and they try to warn others. But as you see, it is quite hard task and it can lead to a long discussion.
Wikitruth.info - Here you can see a collection of what highly educated people said and thought about Wikipedia. One handful of people came to idea to form anti-Wikepedia named Wikitruth.info and we here appreciate their great effort.
